We are celebrating the remarkable turnaround of Acacia Bank Care Home in Bradford, which has been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC)—a major milestone after the home was previously placed in special measures under its former provider.
Following Summit Care Group’s acquisition, Acacia Bank Care Home underwent an extensive refurbishment and management overhaul, marking a new era for the service and its residents. The home, which offers residential and dementia care, has been completely reimagined to provide a safe, welcoming and homely environment tailored to each individual’s needs.
The CQC inspection in July found the home to be ‘Good’ in all five key areas—safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led—reflecting the dedication of the new team and leadership.
Inspectors commended the clean, personalised and well-maintained environment, with thoughtful adaptations to support residents’ comfort and independence. New facilities such as a cinema room, salon, and café lounge were highlighted for fostering social interaction and enjoyment, helping to create a true “home from home” atmosphere.
The report also praised the home’s safe, compassionate and person-centred approach, recognising staff for treating residents with dignity and respect. With robust training and support in place, the team has built strong, trusting relationships with residents and families alike.
The CQC praised Acacia Bank’s inclusive leadership and commitment to continuous improvement, as well as the variety of meaningful activities and events designed to enhance residents’ wellbeing and quality of life.
Adam Calverley, Home Manager at Acacia Bank, said:
“The team at Acacia Bank have worked incredibly hard to showcase the high standard of care and facilities now available, which has resulted in our ‘Good’ CQC rating. “A huge amount of commitment and resources have gone into transforming the home into what is now a true ‘Home from Home’. We’re proud to welcome new residents and continue delivering high-quality, person-centred care.”
Bernie Suresparan, Founder and CEO of Summit Care Group, added:
“We’re delighted with this recognition from CQC for Acacia Bank. Since purchasing the home with an ‘Inadequate’ rating, we’ve invested significant time and money to make it one of the most beautiful and welcoming care homes in Bradford. “Now that our rating has improved, we look forward to welcoming even more residents and families into our community.”
